Job Summary

Education Program Director leading instructional and operations outcomes for a Special Education program (grades 6-8), supervising staff, guiding professional development, and ensuring compliance with state and district requirements. Responsibilities include recruiting and onboarding, aligning professional development with ChanceLight's instructional vision, overseeing daily operations and facilities, managing budgets and resources, coordinating enrollment and transition planning, monitoring student and staff performance, ensuring safety and crisis protocols, contributing to accreditation processes, and communicating progress to district partners and families. The role requires advanced leadership in special education, fluency in ABA/PBIS practices, IEP knowledge, data-driven decision making, and the ability to supervise and coach educators while maintaining strong district relationships.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field
  • Master's degree or higher in special education, educational leadership or a closely related field preferred
  • State and district licensing/credentials requirements for NC (special education instruction, educational administration, school principal or related credential preferred)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management certification
  • Minimum five years experience in special education services and compliance (learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders)
  • Minimum three years experience in school administration or educational leadership (preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program)
  • Knowledge of ABA, PBIS, FBA, BIP, IEPs
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Experience training, professional development, and coaching teachers and staff
  • Ability to build relationships with students, parents, teachers, leaders, and community/district partners
  • Experience with instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite
