Job Summary
EDT I at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital: Provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, including assisting with patient care, monitoring vital signs (pulse oximetry), positioning patients for exams, performing phlebotomy, and coordinating with nurses and physicians. After orthopedic training, delivers orthopedic services per provider orders, demonstrates competency in splinting/removal of casts, and completes documentation of clinical observations and procedures (EKG, data entry, safety compliance). Requires orientation and completion of unit-specific competencies; emphasizes compassionate patient care, HIPAA compliance, and effective communication within the care team. Licenses/certifications include BLS and EMT (NREMT) with preferred AEMT/Paramedic credentials; prior clinical exposure and ability to work night shifts are indicated by the role’s schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Degree or Diploma in Emergency Medical Services or related field
- Emergency Medical Technician certification (NREMT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and EKGs
- Demonstrated patient care abilities and professional communication
