Job Summary
ED Tech performs nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under supervision of a registered nurse or licensed medical provider in the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include observing and reporting patient concerns, assisting RNs with admissions/transfers/discharges, recording vital signs and patient intake/output, assisting in specimen collection and testing, maintaining a clean safe environment to prevent infections, supporting department Operations, aiding in patient preparation for examinations, assisting with administrative tasks, and performing routine tests (glucose monitoring, urine/stool testing), IV care support, phlebotomy where credentialed, and potential EKG testing. Requires heavy physical work, ability to work evening shifts (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week, 3p-3a), and willingness to work with biohazards in a fast-paced hospital setting. Education and certification prerequisites include HS diploma and BLS; preferred ACLS/PALS and state licensure where services are performed. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
- 1 year post high-school education in nursing/biology/physical therapy/sports medicine or related field OR current enrollment in a relevant college program OR minimum six months of ED or pre-hospital care experience
