Job Summary
Obtain and document vital signs, perform 12-lead EKGs, and conduct bedside blood sugar testing. Apply extremity splints, perform oral suctioning, and provide superficial wound care using aseptic technique for procedures like urethral catheterization and phlebotomy. Transport patients, supplies, medications, and equipment while monitoring cardiac rhythms and documenting restraint/seclusion observations. Troubleshoot telesitter cart connectivity issues, maintain safe room guidelines, and respond to remote escalations. Recognize arrhythmias on cardiac monitors and ensure patient care areas remain stocked.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma General or GED General
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficiency with desktop computer
- Demonstrate willingness to be a team-player and a self-starter
- Proficiency obtaining vital signs using manual processes
- Must understand and practice aseptic technique when required: urethral catheterization, sterile tray preparation, dressing applications and all phlebotomy
- Must be able to operate and observe cardiac monitors to ensure recognition of arrhythmias
- Requires knowledge of all specialty instruments and trays, including trauma resuscitation equipment and set-up, ENT trays, special procedure trays
- Must be available for Day shifts
- Must be able to transport patients, unit supplies, equipment, and patient medications
- Must be able to monitor patients in restraint/seclusion
- Must be able to perform other duties deemed necessary to ensure delivery of patient care
- Must comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
