Job Summary
Assess, triage, and prioritize patients in the Emergency Department while initiating nursing-driven orders and participating in time-sensitive clinical protocols for cardiac arrest, trauma, and sepsis. Provide skilled nursing care, delegate to team members, and communicate patient status to physicians, families, and receiving facilities during stabilization and transfer. Maintain daily cart audits, document end-of-shift reports, and float to Med/Surg units based on staffing needs. Work a 6:00 pm to 6:30 am shift with every third weekend rotation, including two holidays annually.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Current WI RN licensure in good standing
- Minimum of one year RN experience
- Minimum of one year ED experience preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Current TNCC certification or willingness to obtain
- Meets OMC health requirements
- Ability to lift independently up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to lift, with assistance, over 100 pounds daily
- Use a computer for 2 to 4 hours or more a day for EMR documentation
- Ability to stand and walk up to eight to twelve hours daily
- Ability to squat and kneel occasionally
- Ability to reach to shoulder height occasionally
- Use manual dexterity to perform care/treatment activities
- Use visual and auditory acuity to see details
- Maintain appropriate licenses and certifications independently
- Daily audit of crash cart, trauma cart, pediatric cart, glucometer and refrigerator temperatures with completion of associated documentation
- Participate in emergency response, trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, sepsis, and other time-sensitive clinical protocols
- Perform rapid assessment and prioritization of patients based on acuity
- Perform initial nursing assessment and triage in accordance with established ED triage processes and validated competency
- Will float to Med/Surg unit during times of low ED volume as needed
- Treat every patient, visitor, and team member with dignity and respect
