Job Summary
ED Associate role responsible for registering patients and ensuring data accuracy for hospital records and billing. Performs admission/registration, pre-admission/pre-registration, and copay collection; serves as receptionist and primary information resource in the Emergency Department; handles order entry, clerical support, and chart preparation, including preparing patient charts and coordinating with Medical Records. Requires greeting patients and visitors, assisting staff and families, interpreting facility regulations, answering phones, and maintaining accurate records and demographics data. Utilizes regulatory knowledge to ensure proper insurance data and charges, and supports department operations such as on-call systems and chart transfers. Demonstrates strong communication and typing skills to facilitate timely patient services and accurate documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- Minimum of six (6) months registration experience in hospital or related healthcare setting, required
- Typing 20 wpm, required
- Ability to use general office equipment, required
- Good verbal and written communication skills, required
