Job Summary
Provide academic assistance by delivering group and individualized instruction, correcting student work, and reinforcing achievement while monitoring behavior in classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds. Prepare visual aids, arrange equipment, and serve as a proctor during testing. Manage student conduct by resolving conflicts, promoting self-esteem, and reporting discipline issues to staff. Drive or monitor school buses as required, maintaining all state-mandated certifications. Report attendance and enter behavioral data into health records according to regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
- Must maintain appropriate bus driver certification at all times
