Job Summary
Based in Yangon, the Economic Security Generalist supports the design, implementation, and monitoring of EcoSec programs to help crisis-affected populations improve livelihoods, food security, and living conditions, mainly in Bago Region but also in other areas southeast of Myanmar. Responsibilities include conducting economic security assessments, coordinating with the Myanmar Red Cross Society and humanitarian partners, collecting and analyzing data, planning and monitoring emergency assistance and livelihood activities, organizing beneficiary registration and post-distribution monitoring, representing the EcoSec programme in multi-sector assessments and forums, and helping design sustainable livelihood initiatives and conditional cash grant projects. Candidates should demonstrate a genuine humanitarian motivation, proactive problem-solving, strong networking and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, the ability to work independently under pressure in remote environments, and proficiency in English and Burmese. Proficiency with MS Office and digital data systems, and willingness to travel, are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Economics, Rural Development, Veterinary Science, Nutrition, International Development, Humanitarian Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in livelihoods, food security, cash and voucher assistance (CVA), or economic security programming.
- Experience conducting field assessments, beneficiary registration, data collection and analysis, program implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, community engagement, accountability to affected populations (AAP), and coordination with government authorities, local partners, and humanitarian actors.
- Strong knowledge and experience of the operational, geographical, and socio-cultural context of Southeast Myanmar, particularly in East Bago, West Bago, Ayeyarwady, Tanintharyi, and other areas of responsibility.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills, with proficiency in both English and Burmese; ability to translate and interpret when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and digital data management systems, with willingness to travel extensively and work in challenging field environments.
