Job Summary
Economic Development Coordinator drives growth and investment in Cleveland, TX by coordinating consultants, leading business attraction initiatives, and advancing workforce development and downtown revitalization. Responsibilities include managing third-party consultants, developing and executing the BRE program, conducting market research, preparing RFIs, pursuing state and national funding, drafting grant proposals, and collaborating with the Chamber of Commerce, private developers, and educational/government partners to position the community as investment-ready. Requires strong project management, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, grant writing, and ability to work with diverse partners; requires a high school diploma (Bachelor's preferred) and 2–4 years of experience in economic development or related fields; Texas driving license and TEEX course completion within 1 year are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Planning, Business, Public Administration, Communications, or closely related field preferred (experience considered in lieu of degree)
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in economic development, community development, municipal government, urban planning, business development, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in business recruitment, retention, expansion, and project coordination
- Experience working with local businesses, developers, and community organizations
- Professional certification or membership in recognized economic development organization preferred
- Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Completion of TEEX Basic Economic Development Course required within 1 year of hire
- Certification or membership with recognized economic development organization preferred
