Ecological Restoration Technician

Job Summary
Operate specialized equipment including large trucks, UTVs, brush cutters, augers, and chainsaws to execute stream restoration, stormwater projects, restoration planting, and invasive species management. Navigate using GPS mapping systems while applying herbicides and performing basic equipment maintenance. Identify native and invasive plant species to guide restoration efforts, manage erosion control, and implement prescribed burns if certified. Work outdoors year-round in inclement weather, lifting 50lbs and traversing uneven terrain. Requires a High School diploma, reliable transportation, and a Commercial Pesticide Technician license. 1+ years of restoration experience and herbicide application skills preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent
- Reliable means of transportation to get to the field office
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to walk over uneven surfaces and up/down hills
- Ability to climb on construction equipment
- Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather
- 1+ years of work in ecological restoration
- Ability to read and understand the project plans, details, and specifications
- Commercial Pesticide Technician/Apprentice License in the applicable categories for your assigned state
- Native and invasive plant species knowledge, applicable to your assigned state
- 1+ year experience mixing and applying herbicides for managing invasive species
- 1+ year experience performing planting and seeding techniques
