Job Summary
ECMO Specialist provides clinical direction for ECMO therapy in an acute inpatient setting in collaboration with perfusion and physician staff. Responsible for managing cardio-pulmonary support devices, maintaining accurate records within the medical record, following laboratory procedures, and supporting patient transport while delivering direct patient care within the scope of the applicable SC license. Must demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, DHEC), commitment to safety, quality improvement, and compliance with organizational policies. Night shift; Greenville Memorial Hospital, SC. Requires an Associate degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy, ECMO device course with CMEs, and appropriate licensure for SC.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy
- ECMO specialty device course and required CMEs to maintain proficiency
- Licensed to practice as RT or RN in the state the team member is working (SC) or RN compact/multistate license recognized by NCSBN or RN license in state of work
- Knowledge of patient equipment such as suction, defibrillator, vitals; I-STAT point-of-care competency
Desired Qualifications
- ECMO certification or recognized ECMO coursework
- In-depth ICU/critical care experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, DHEC) and infection control
- South Carolina RN or RT licensure or multi-state license (NCSBN) and ability to practice in SC
- Ability to work night shifts and handle on-call responsibilities
