Job Summary

Assemble, prepare, and maintain extracorporeal circuits and associated equipment, including priming systems and assisting with cannulation procedures. Establish extracorporeal support by monitoring patient response, performing routine assessments, evaluating circuits, and managing anticoagulation. Provide ongoing care through surveillance of clinical and physiologic parameters, adjust ECLS devices, administer blood products, and manage airway and ventilator settings. Troubleshoot devices under supervision while documenting care in the electronic health record. Participate in ECMO team meetings, M&M conferences, simulation, and continuing education to maintain proficiency. Work 36 hours per week in rotating day/night shifts and every third weekend.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a BCH Respiratory Therapist with eligibility for promotion to RT II, or one year of external ECMO experience
  • Current Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Current credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential must be obtained within 6 months of entry into the role
  • 36 hours per week, rotating day/night shifts, every third weekend
