Job Summary
Perform adult echocardiograms including 2-D, Doppler, stress, and transesophageal studies while explaining procedures to patients and obtaining brief histories. Evaluate images, reposition probes or patients for optimal views, and recognize arrhythmias to assist physicians in data interpretation and determining which images to save. Measure and edit preliminary reports, enter data into computer systems, and review findings with physicians. Maintain clinical supplies, schedule preventive maintenance for equipment, and ensure compliance with ICAEL accreditation quality assurance standards. Report to the Director of Diagnostic and Cardiac Imaging within the Echocardiography Laboratory at Littleton Regional Healthcare.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with CCI or within one year of eligibility
- At least 3 years experience performing echocardiograms
- BCLS certification
- Ability to obtain intravenous access within 90 days of employment
- Close vision
- Distance vision
- Color vision
- Peripheral vision
- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to work in dim lit areas for long periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with intravenous access preferred, or to be obtained within 90 days of employment
- ACLS certification
- Specialized certifications specifically for echo technicians include the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certification from ARDMS
