Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic cardiac exams under physician direction, prioritizing and scheduling appointments while preparing patients for procedures. Perform ultrasound imaging consistent with protocols, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the exam. Coordinate care with medical staff and document results, applying appropriate charge codes and maintaining equipment. Mentor caregivers and students on equipment use and procedural technique. Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in educational opportunities to maintain clinical competence.
Required Qualifications
- ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Must demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be able to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
