Job Summary
Echocardiographer (cardiac sonographer) performs echocardiographic studies on patients to obtain high-quality ultrasound recordings for cardiologist interpretation. Responsibilities include completing quantitative worksheets, assisting with clerical tasks (scheduling, communications, reporting, data entry, charging), equipment maintenance and quality checks, and providing accurate measurements and diagnostic images. Requires knowledge of ultrasound principles and cardiac abnormalities, ability to work under pressure, and capability to work independently with initiative. On-call hours, evenings and weekends, and overtime in emergencies are required. Qualified candidates must be registered or registry-eligible with RDCS or equivalent certification within 12 months of hire/transfer, with ARDMS registry planned within 12 months if using subspecialty credentials; BLS certification required. This is a per-diem, part-time position with pay range $44.96-$74.30 per hour (converted to annualized salaries: $93,517 - $154,544). Required Qualifications
- Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with a specialty Registration of Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (RDCS); If RDCS registry eligible, must receive RDCS certification within 12 months of hire or transfer
- Registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International as Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) may be substituted for RDCS with the expectation of obtaining ARDMS registry within 12 months of hire or transfer
- BLS - Basic Life Support (includes RQI) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross
