Job Summary
Perform comprehensive cardiac diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including transthoracic echocardiograms, by setting up equipment, positioning patients, and acquiring diagnostic-quality images. Identify abnormalities in heart conditions such as wall defects or valve issues, record anatomical data, and immediately report unusual findings to physicians. Maintain equipment through daily warm-ups, quality control checks, and regular cleaning while ensuring adequate supply levels. Transport ultrasound machines to bedside, emergency rooms, or wards as needed, and explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation. Input test data into computer systems and review results with interpreting providers.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Cardiovascular Technologist Program through the JRC-CVT
- Must have formal, in-person cardiac sonography training
- Proof of formal training must be provided to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) before performance begins
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification
- Minimum 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience within the last 2 years as a Cardiovascular Technologist performing echocardiographic studies
- Must pass TB Test
- Subject to a background/security investigation
- Willingness to comply with DHA vaccination requirements
- Willingness to complete a physical examination
- Pre-employment drug screening
- Required to wear PPE during performance of services
- Walking, long periods of standing, stretching, crouching, bending, stooping, lifting to 50lbs, lifting over 50lbs with assistance
- Exposure to infections disease; toxic, hazardous, or irritating chemicals; carcinogenic materials; noxious fumes; flammable liquids; radiation; pathogenic bacteria; electric hazards
- Contract workers should maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance
