Job Summary

Perform echocardiography and vascular ultrasound exams while prioritizing, scheduling, and coordinating procedures with physicians and patients. Prepare, educate, and position patients for timely, safe, and high-quality imaging outcomes. Accurately document results, apply charge codes, and mentor caregivers or students on equipment use. Clean, maintain, and stock imaging equipment; support quality improvement initiatives and professional development. Ensure patient stability before, during, and after procedures while communicating effectively with care teams. Full-time, 40-hour schedule including four 10-hour day shifts, required call coverage, occasional weekends, and holiday rotation. ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography required; BLS certification mandatory. Bachelor's degree preferred. Intermountain Health offers student loan assistance up to $3,000 annually, continuing education support up to $5,250, and a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500 for eligible applicants.

Required Qualifications

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Demonstrate technical competency in performing echocardiography exams following departmental protocols
  • Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate exams with physicians, caregivers, and patients
  • Prepare, educate, transport, and position patients

  • Identify patient needs during exams and communicate effectively with physicians, caregivers, patients, and families
  • Ensure patient stability and safety before, during, and after procedures
  • Accurately document exam results and apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies
  • Mentor caregivers and students on basic equipment use and procedural techniques
  • Clean, maintain, and stock equipment and work areas

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
  • Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
  • obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
