Job Summary
Perform diagnostic cardiac exams under physician direction to identify abnormalities and support patient diagnosis. Prioritize and schedule exams, coordinate with medical staff and patients, and transport individuals while educating families on procedures. Execute ultrasound protocols consistently to ensure safety, comfort, and quality outcomes, then return patients to rooms for stability monitoring. Mentor caregivers and students on equipment use and technique, document results, apply charge codes, and maintain equipment and supplies. Support quality improvement processes and participate in educational opportunities to maintain clinical competence.
Required Qualifications
- Echo Vascular Technician I
- ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Must meet all Echo/Vascular Technologist I qualifications
- Obtain any two of the national registry credential(s) through ARDMS, CCI, or ACS as applicable to the department: Vascular technology, RPHS (Registered Phlebology Sonographer), TCD (Transcranial Doppler), Adult Echo, Adult Congenital Echo, Advanced Cardiac Sonographer
- Obtain a minimum of one registry with the following years of service: ≥10 + echocardiography experience, ≥5+ echocardiography experience + Associates Degree
- Must complete a minimum of 1500 studies as related to credentials
- Must have documented Echo Medical Director review of a minimum of 5 studies in addition to a supervisory skills pass off of a minimum of 20 studies
- Formal written recommendation by each of the following: Echo/Vascular Manager, Cardiovascular Director, CV Imaging Medical Director
- Must demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department

- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for call (night/weekend/holiday)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified
