Job Summary
ECE Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities in MSD/MMD/OHI/EBD/Autism, Visual/Hearing Impairments, Learning Disabilities, and other related areas. Assist in implementing students’ individual education plans (IEPs), help establish and maintain a safe, structured learning environment, and provide physical assistance as needed (positioning, toileting, lifting). Requires a High School diploma or GED and completion or pursuit of the Kentucky Paraeducator Exam (KPA) or 48 college hours, plus willingness to participate in ECE in-service trainings and strong communication with staff. Applicants credential evaluation for transcripts outside the U.S. may be required; falsification of applications is grounds for exclusion. The role involves supporting students with disabilities in classroom settings within the district’s Exceptional Child Education programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Passing score on the KPA (Kentucky Paraeducator Exam) or 48 college semester hours
- Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities
- Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students such as positioning, toileting, and lifting
- Willingness to attend district ECE in-service for professional growth
- Effective communication skills
- If your highest education is High School or GED you must take and pass the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment Exam
