Job Summary
Assist in implementing each student’s individual education plan and help establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment for students with disabilities. Work with students with disabilities across MSD, MMD, OHI, EBD, AUT, VI, HI, LD, and related needs. Requires a High School Diploma or GED, passing KPA or 48 college hours, willingness to work with students with disabilities, ability to assist with positioning, toileting, and lifting, attendance at district ECE in-services, and effective communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Passing score on the Kentucky Paraeducator Exam (KPA) or 48 college semester hours
- Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities
- Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students (positioning, toileting, lifting)
- Willingness to attend district ECE in-service for professional growth
- Effective communication skills
- If highest education is High School or GED, must take and pass the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment Exam
- Transcripts obtained outside the U.S. require credential evaluation prior to vacancies
