Job Summary
Part-time ECE Classroom Assistant supporting 3-5 year olds in an Early Childhood Education Center. Responsibilities include tutoring individuals or small groups under teacher guidance, preparing lessons, administering and scoring assessments, assisting in a learning environment to develop physical, cognitive, emotional, creative and social skills, preparing materials, DRDPs/portfolios, monitoring and reporting student progress and behavior, supervising activities (lunch, field trips, playground, transportation pickup/drop-off), assisting with meals, maintaining orderly and safe classrooms, performing clerical tasks, operating instructional technology, and serving as a role model while communicating with teachers and parents. Requires basic knowledge of early childhood characteristics, ability to maintain records, and willingness to support district equity goals. Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience with 3-5 year olds; preferred two years of college coursework (48 semester units) and six ECE units; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED, mandated reporter training (AB 1207), and district pre-employment processes are required, along with background checks and a California driver’s license if applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- One year experience working with 3-5 year old children (required)
- Six Early Childhood Education or Child Development Units (required)
- Certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED (required)
- AB 1207 - CALIFORNIA CHILD CARE PROVIDERS: MANDATED REPORTER TRAINING (required)
- Paraprofessional Examination (required)
- Fingerprint clearance (required)
- TB test or chest x-ray (required)
- Possession of current valid California Driver’s License (possible requirement)
