Job Summary
Assists one or more early childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, and instruction of preschool-aged children in classrooms, common areas, playgrounds, and during transportation at a Headstart center focused on school readiness. Maintains and prepares classroom environments and materials. Requires knowledge of early childhood development principles, instruction methods for preschool-aged children, basic clerical and record-keeping skills, and ability to work cooperatively with teachers, students, and parents. May require knowledge of native language/culture and ability to support play-oriented instructional activities; role may involve safety-sensitive work subject to testing. Provides support across ECE Assistant I–III with progressive CDA requirements and driver endorsements as specified. Required Qualifications
- GED/High School diploma within 6 months for ECE Assist I
- CDA or equivalent in early childhood education within two years for ECE Assist I
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certificate, Health Clearance, TB Test, and Food Handlers Card within 3 weeks
- High School diploma and 6 months experience for ECE Assist II plus CDA within two years
- Valid driver’s license and Class C CDL with Passenger and Student Endorsement within 120 days for ECE Assist II
- High School diploma and 12 months experience for ECE Assist III plus CDA within 24 months
- Valid Washington State driver’s license and eligibility for Tribes insurance for ECE Assist III
- Class C CDL with Passenger and Student Endorsement for ECE Assist III
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certificate, Health Clearance, TB Test, and Food Handlers Card within 3 weeks for all levels
