EC Teacher - General Curriculum (2026-2027)

Job Summary
EC Teacher plans and provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in classroom settings, creates lesson plans and adapts materials to meet diverse learning needs, and monitors student progress while maintaining EC records in compliance with state and federal guidelines. The role involves collaboration with parents and professionals, uses positive behavioral supports, and may involve therapeutic/transition planning. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and NC Exceptional Children certification (or eligibility), plus a NC driver’s license. Ten-month school year with a 40-hour work week and duties including direct/indirect instructional support, data collection for IEPs, and participation in multidisciplinary teams; preferred Master’s degree and Spanish-speaking abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an approved program in special education
- Must possess valid NC certification in the area of Exceptional Children in one or more specialty areas, or be eligible to receive certification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
- Experience working with students with special needs
