Job Summary
The EC Teacher plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings, developing and implementing the IEPs, adapting the general curriculum with supplemental supports, and maintaining records in compliance with laws. Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, delivering specialized instruction, employing behavioral supports, coordinating with parents and a multidisciplinary team to promote students’ educational, physical, and social-emotional development, and ensuring effective communication and data collection to monitor progress. Requires collaboration with administrators, staff, and families, and may involve crisis intervention and participation in data for local, state, and federal reporting. Must possess NC Exceptional Children certification and a valid NC driver’s license; Bachelor’s in Special Education is required; Master’s degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an approved program in special education
- Must possess valid NC certification in the area of Exceptional Children in one or more specialty areas, or be eligible to receive certification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
