Job Summary
Provide instructional support to Exceptional Children as a Teacher Assistant in a self-contained classroom. Responsibilities include giving group instruction as prescribed by the teacher, providing individualized instruction, supervising and monitoring students, preparing visual aids and instructional materials, proctoring tests, collecting and recording attendance and health data, and assisting with classroom organization and discipline under supervision of the teacher and principal. Requires working with diverse learners, applying effective methods for guiding student behavior, and maintaining confidentiality of student information. May involve substitution for the lead teacher and participation in professional development activities and workshops.
Required Qualifications
- 2 or 4 year degree in any area
- Completion of 96 Community College/University contact hours and an acceptable score on college placement tests in reading, writing and math.
