Job Summary
EC Teacher Assistant assists the EC Teacher by working with individual students, small groups, or large groups; reinforces learning of material or skills; devises strategies based on individual students' needs; guides independent study and remedial activities; reads to students and participates in oral communication; handles clerical duties, health procedures, and attendance within a classroom aimed at supporting students with disabilities and IEP goals; supports teachers with behavior management and confidentiality of student information; may accompany students to special classes and serves as support for EC Substitute Teacher; participates in inservice training and school activities; requires 48 college credits or equivalent (Highly Qualified) and WorkKeys scores; 10-month in-school schedule with duties including testing supervision, data collection related to IEP goals, and general classroom support.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must be designated as "Highly Qualified": 48 college credits or 7 credits in core subject matter and passing WorkKeys test scores
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities is desirable
