Job Summary
Assist classroom teachers with instructional objectives, behavior modifications, and specialized tasks for students with disabilities. Provide individual academic support, personal care including hygiene and feeding, and mobility assistance such as lifting, positioning, and bus transport. Monitor student safety during activities and field trips, reinforce learning through small groups, and manage medication administration. Perform general housekeeping duties, maintain confidential records, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and therapists to address student needs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree
- 48 semester hours
- Pass the WorkKeys assessment
- Willing and eligible to obtain a bus driver's license
- High School Diploma
- Valid driver's license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
- Initial certification in a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) program
- Maintenance of CPI certification through proper renewal process
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in an EC classroom/environment
- Training in assisting students with special needs
- Able to obtain a North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification and P&S endorsements
