Job Summary
EC Teacher Assistant at Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, based at McDougle Elementary School. Assists the EC Teacher by working with individual students, small groups, or whole classes; reinforces material introduced by teachers; devises strategies tailored to individual students; supports data collection for IEP goals; aids with behavior management, student supervision during meals, at recess, field trips, and emergencies; provides physical support and personal care as needed; supports substitutes and interprets substitute plans related to IEP/BIP goals; performs clerical duties and maintains confidentiality of student information; participates in inservice training and upholds professional standards. Requires designated Highly Qualified status (48 college credits or 7 credits in core subjects plus WorkKeys) and experience with students with disabilities. This is a 10-month, school-site role with in-person duties at McDougle Elementary School in Chapel Hill, NC.
Required Qualifications
- Designated as Highly Qualified: 48 college credits or 7 credits in core subject matter and passing WorkKeys tests
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities is desirable
- Complete district de-escalation and crisis training as assigned
- Education/Experience requirements as per district guidance
- Able to perform essential classroom duties including supervision, data collection, and clerical tasks
