Job Summary
The EC Teacher delivers specialized instruction to middle school students with disabilities, develops and monitors IEPs, collaborates with general education teachers and parents, and ensures appropriate accommodations and modifications to support academic, social, and emotional growth. Responsibilities include direct instruction in various settings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting assessments, participating in IEP meetings and conferences, implementing behavior plans, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws. Juggling data-driven decision making with ongoing communication to families and staff, the role emphasizes an inclusive, positive learning environment and adherence to documentation and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for students with disabilities
- Direct instruction experience in individual, small-group, and inclusion settings
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies
- Proficiency in monitoring student progress and maintaining documentation of academic and behavioral performance
- Experience conducting assessments and assisting in the evaluation and eligibility process for special education services
- Active participation in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Implementation of accommodations, modifications, and behavior intervention plans as required
- Compliance with federal, state, and local special education laws and regulations
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Strong communication with parents/guardians and school personnel regarding student progress
- Data-driven instructional decision making to improve student outcomes
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or designee
