Job Summary
Coach teachers and staff on data-based IEP implementation, specially designed instruction, and inclusive practices through reflective dialog, model lessons, and co-teaching. Facilitate professional development on high-leverage strategies and collaborate with administrators to verify IEP adherence across educational placements. Lead PLCs for peer reflection on student access to general curriculum and progress monitoring while developing scheduling plans for on-site support. Oversee summer ESY and compensatory services for transferring students, prepare accountability reports, and close achievement gaps for students with disabilities. Provide data-driven feedback on instructional program effectiveness to school and district leaders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in special education or related services
- 5-7 years of effective special education teaching experience
- Exceptional Children Teaching License (K12): General Curriculum, Specific Learning Disabled or Cross Categorical (mildly/moderately disabled) or equivalent or a related service license
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the North Carolina Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
- Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectives
- Experience with providing instruction for students with disabilities
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in special education administration, psychology, or a related service
- Expertise and experience in teaching and coaching adult learners
- Reading Research to Classroom Practice, Foundations of Math, or Direct Instruction programs Trainer Certification
