Job Summary
Provide academic assistance by delivering group and individualized instruction, correcting student work, and reinforcing achievement while reporting progress to the teacher. Manage instructional preparation by arranging equipment, creating visual aids, and serving as a proctor during testing. Monitor student behavior by supervising the classroom and playground, resolving conflicts, and documenting attendance and behavioral data. Drive or monitor school buses as required, maintaining all state-mandated certifications. Perform physical tasks including lifting and repetitive motion, and communicate with parents and staff. Work a 9-month term at Benson ES.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must meet the requirements for Highly Qualified Status by having one of the following qualifications: (1) Hold a 2 or 4 year degree, (2) Have completed 48 Semester Hours, or (3) Have completed the Pathways to TA Class and completed the accompanying WorkKeys Test
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
- Must maintain appropriate bus driver certification at all times
