EC AC Teacher Assistant

EC TA assists the EC Teacher by supporting instruction for individual students, small groups, and whole classes; reinforces material introduced by teachers; devises strategies based on student needs; guides independent study and remedial activities; reads to students and supports oral communication; distributes and collects instructional materials; assists with data collection for IEP goals; corrects assignments and supervises testing; supports behavior management and communicates student information to the supervising teacher; maintains professional relationships and confidentiality; supervises students during meals, bus duty, drills, assemblies, and field trips; provides support to an EC Substitute Teacher; may accompany students to special classes; performs classroom health procedures under nurse supervision and performs clerical duties; maintains displays and participates in inservice training; provides physical support to students with disabilities as needed and assists with personal care like toileting and feeding; participates in district trainings; duties may vary by assignment; EC TAs based at High Schools may serve as Job Coaches for Work-Based Learning experiences.
