Job Summary
Provide supplemental literacy instruction to K–3 students in small groups, teaching foundational reading and early literacy skills. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials using district-provided resources, while monitoring, assessing, and documenting student academic progress. Collaborate with classroom teachers and reading specialists to support student learning, communicating feedback and maintaining accurate instructional and student records. Follow the instructional schedule established by school personnel and maintain a safe, productive classroom environment. Participate in professional development focused on literacy instruction and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Title IX Training
- Mandated Reporting Training
- Suicide Prevention Training
- Active Virginia Teaching License preferred for Teacher-level position
- Strong knowledge of early literacy instruction and foundational reading skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and reading specialists
- Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students
