Job Summary
Foster a safe, inclusive environment for approximately 20 children while planning and leading age-appropriate activities that support social-emotional learning and skill building. Monitor student attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement, then maintain accurate daily records. Build positive relationships with students, families, and stakeholders while collaborating with the Site Coordinator to plan culminating events and request program materials within budget guidelines. Comply with all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and required certifications, including occasional off-site field trips. Participate in mandatory professional development totaling approximately 15 hours across weekends and intersession days. Work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM as part of a part-time team supporting Woodcraft Rangers' mission to guide youth toward purposeful lives across Los Angeles.
Required Qualifications
- Availability Monday through Friday, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6 months experience working with supervising a group of early education aged children in a school or recreational setting or 6 units in early education / child development
- Ability to work effectively with children and youth
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems
- Must successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
- Frequent standing is required during working hours
- Regular use of hands for various tasks, such as operating a computer and handling objects
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings
- Associate's Degree in Child Development or a related field
