Job Summary
Foster a safe and supportive environment for students while planning and leading age-appropriate activities that support whole-child development. Monitor student attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement, then maintain accurate daily records. Build positive relationships with families and colleagues, and collaborate on culminating events to celebrate participants' achievements. Comply with safety procedures, emergency protocols, and required trainings, including off-site field trips as needed. Request program materials to ensure budget adherence and availability.
Required Qualifications
- Availability Monday through Friday, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 6 months experience working with supervising a group of early education aged children in a school or recreational setting or 6 units in early education / child development
- Ability to work effectively with children and youth
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Must successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
- Frequent standing is required during working hours
- Regular use of hands for various tasks, such as operating a computer and handling objects
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings preferred
- Associate's Degree in Child Development or a related field is preferred
