Job Summary
Foster a safe, inclusive environment for approximately 20 children by planning age-appropriate activities that support social-emotional learning and whole-child development. Monitor student attendance and participation daily, maintain accurate records, and build positive relationships with families and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Site Coordinator to plan culminating events, request program materials within budget, and comply with all safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in off-site field trips and attend required professional development totaling approximately 15 hours. Work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM as part of a team supporting over 30,000 youth across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties.
Required Qualifications
- Availability Monday through Friday, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6 months experience working with supervising a group of early education aged children in a school or recreational setting or 6 units in early education / child development
- Ability to work effectively with children and youth
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems
- Must successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
- Frequent standing is required during working hours
- Regular use of hands for various tasks, such as operating a computer and handling objects
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings
- Associate's Degree in Child Development or a related field
