Job Summary

Assist classroom teachers and center leadership with daily activities, curriculum implementation, and fostering children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. Maintain a safe, clean environment by monitoring classrooms and playgrounds, reporting maintenance concerns, and organizing learning materials. Provide positive guidance to children, support interactions with parents, and maintain confidentiality while tracking attendance, meal counts, and behavior logs. This role requires flexibility and collaboration within Early Learning Centers across Beverly, Salem, Marblehead, Ipswich, and Cape Ann. Candidates must meet childcare licensing requirements, hold current CPR/First Aid certifications, and be able to lift up to 40 pounds. The YMCA offers free membership, paid training, and a retirement plan with a 12% employer contribution.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent program
  • Must meet all applicable childcare requirements established by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) or the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of child growth and development
  • Maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist, reach, and move throughout the day as needed
  • Must be able to react quickly and appropriately to the unpredictable actions and needs of children
  • Must be able to actively supervise children and participate in program activities throughout the day
