Job Summary

Assist classroom teachers and center leadership with daily activities, routines, and curriculum implementation to foster children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. Monitor playgrounds and learning spaces for safety, report maintenance concerns, and maintain clean, organized environments. Provide positive guidance to children, track attendance and behavior logs, and communicate relevant information to parents through supervisory channels. Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families while modeling core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This role supports the YMCA of the North Shore's Early Learning Centers in Plaistow, NH, offering free membership, paid training, and a supportive mission-driven environment for individuals seeking experience in early childhood education.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent program
  • Must meet all applicable childcare requirements established by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of child growth and development and the ability to apply that knowledge when working with children
  • Must maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist, reach, and move throughout the day as needed
  • Must be able to react quickly and appropriately to the unpredictable actions and needs of children
  • Must be able to actively supervise children and participate in program activities throughout the day
