Early Intervention Vision Specialist

Job Summary

Conduct developmental assessments and ongoing support for infants and toddlers with visual impairments using a strengths-based, routines-focused approach. Partner with families through collaborative coaching to embed individualized strategies within daily routines, promoting growth and meaningful engagement. Provide guidance on environmental adaptations, optimal positioning, and visual skill development while attending ophthalmology appointments for service coordination. Develop and implement center-based services as appropriate, collaborate within the Primary Service Provider model with specialists, and maintain accurate documentation. Determine eligibility, support referrals, and participate in ISP/IFSP development, team meetings, and transition planning conferences. Coordinate with the Cleveland Sight Center Clinic for eyeglass assistance and engage in ongoing professional development related to early childhood and visual impairments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Intervention Specialist, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field

Desired Qualifications

  • Developmental Specialist certification preferred
  • Experience supporting infants and toddlers or young children with developmental delays, ideally in home-based or community settings
  • Licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS)
