Job Summary
Plan and implement the Creative Curriculum for infants, toddlers, and families while developing individualized learning plans and tracking progress toward child, family, and health goals. Supervise classroom activities, field trips, and volunteers; conduct daily screenings, assessments, and evaluations using ELAP and other instruments to monitor development, health, and social-emotional growth. Partner with parents to facilitate orientation, monthly meetings, home visits, and parent-teacher conferences, while identifying opportunities for volunteer participation and community engagement. Maintain accurate records of child progress, behavior, and health; submit paperwork and progress reports as required. Ensure safe, hazard-free learning environments and refer families to local agencies when additional support is needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or an Associate Degree in a field related to early childhood education with a minimum of 18 credits in ECE
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and previous supervision experience preferred
- Infant/Toddler CDA
- Basic First Aid and CPR Certification
- Acceptable tuberculosis and drug screening results
- Clear criminal records check
- Initial health exam
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Knowledge of the state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect and child care licensing requirements
- Knowledge of local resources and families' culture
- Ability to work in diverse environments
- Ability to use Active Supervision strategies to keep children safe
- Extensive knowledge and skills in the field of early childhood development
- Extensive computer knowledge of Google, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of ChildPlus and Teaching Strategies Gold
- Ability to supervise classroom, staff, and volunteers
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to Early Head Start children, families, and staff
- Ability to maintain accurate records that reflect the program requirements and progress of children
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge, skills and a positive attitude in the field of early childhood education
- Ability to exhibit patience and tact when communicating with children, families, staff, management, referral sources and the public
- Ability to project professionalism in conducting daily activities
- Ability to read and follow Performance Standards, Program Policies, and Procedures, child care licensing regulations, and emails daily
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, serving and sanitation procedures
- Knowledge of current car seat safety regulations and laws for use when transporting children and families in approved agency vehicles
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit on the floor, bend, squat, kneel, lift children, and engage in physical play in various learning environments

- Education or experience in collaborating with parents in the education of their children

- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Some evenings and weekend work may occasionally be required for events such as home visits, parent-teacher conferences, Parent Committee meetings, and community and social events such as field trips
- Travel by car, bus, airplane, or train may also be required, as well as attendance at conferences, meetings, and other duties carried out at distant locations in and out of state, and in some cases, overnight travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and previous supervision experience preferred
- Knowledge of and participation in the eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance processes
- Knowledge of The Early Learning Accomplishment Profile (ELAP) and other screening, assessment, and evaluation instruments
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate social-emotional development of infants and toddlers
- Knowledge of current car seat safety regulations and laws for use when transporting children and families in approved agency vehicles
- Willingness to learn programs as needed
