Job Summary
Plan menus with parents and center staff to meet nutritional requirements, order food within budget, and prepare meals and snacks from the approved menu. Serve food in a family style setting while eating with children, maintaining safety and sanitation in preparation and storage areas. Clean equipment, participate in classroom cooking experiences, and prepare all necessary records and reports. Recruit parents for menu planning and substitute cook roles, post weekly schedules, and supervise a Lunch Aide. Work 40 hours weekly for 46 weeks at $16.92/hr.
Required Qualifications
- Experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school
- One year of nutrition and food preparation experience
- Experience and training planning and preparing nutritious meals for the Head Start children
- Assuring that one-third of the daily nutritional needs are met
- Knowledge of food preparation
- Knowledge of safe storage
- Knowledge of sanitation
- Genuine care and respect for children and their needs
- Physical condition adequate to meet the physical and emotional demands of assigned duties
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of varied social, cultural, and educational backgrounds
- Must be bondable
- Current, valid Arizona Driver's License
- Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Food Managers certification as required by the County Health Department
