Job Summary
Assistant Teacher for Early Head Start in Westminster, MD supports teacher-led activities, ensures child safety, assembles and maintains a nurturing classroom, implements designated curriculum aligned with Head Start standards, and fosters social, physical, and cognitive development. Responsibilities include supervising children, organizing materials, implementing curriculum with CLASS considerations, supporting individualized instruction through ongoing assessment, and engaging families in the child’s learning. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm; compensation ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour with a sign-on bonus of $1,000–$2,000 depending on full-time/part-time status. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 90 hour ECE certification
- one year of experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting or one year of college or equivalent experience
- MSDE approved 9 hour communications class
- Assistant Teacher I requires 9 hour MSDE communications class and 90 hour ECE; Assistant Teacher II requires CDA and 9 hour communications class or 90 hour ECE with 30 ECE college credits; Assistant Teacher III requires AA or higher in ECE or related teaching certificate
