Job Summary
Assist Head Start/ Early Head Start classrooms in Westminster by supporting the teacher to ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. Responsibilities include supervising children, organizing the classroom, implementing Head Start-aligned curriculum, applying CLASS-informed instructional support, contributing to individualized lesson plans based on ongoing assessment, and fostering positive relationships with families to engage them in their child’s learning. Requires High School diploma or GED, 90-hour ECE certification and related MSDE coursework, CDA/Associate-degree pathway, and ability to work with diverse populations. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–2:30 PM with pay roughly $17.40–$18.50/hour depending on education and hours, plus sign-on bonuses for external candidates.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 90 hour MSDE approved communications class
- 90 hour ECE certification
- one year of experience with preschoolers or equivalent
- professional development plan toward CDA or Associate degree in ECE
- ability to relate to diverse populations
- willingness to accompany children on field trips and participate in activities
- ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- computer systems proficiency
