Job Summary
Lead classroom oversight and implement daily emergent, project-based curriculum using developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 12 months to 5 years. Collaborate with teaching teams to design activities that support social-emotional development, while observing children, recording anecdotal notes, and coordinating assessments to inform intentional planning. Mentor university preservice teachers and student employees by guiding theory-to-practice connections, and assist faculty and researchers with data collection for studies within and outside the classroom. Establish routines, resolve conflicts, and maintain meaningful partnerships with families through biannual conferences and daily communication. Adhere to all state and national accreditation policies while ensuring safety during indoor and outdoor activities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of early childhood education experience
- Pediatric CPR, Pediatric First Aid Certification, or the ability to be certified within 60 days of employment
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Knowledge of child growth and development, learning theories, effective learning environments, and appropriate teaching strategies
- Ability to develop knowledge to assess the effectiveness of instructional strategies and learning environments
- Ability to give, receive, and reflect on constructive feedback
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to assist in mentoring and supervising early childhood preservice teachers and student employees
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to adhere to all policies and procedures dictated by the Children's Center, Texas A&M University, the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, SACS/Cognia, and Texas Rising Star to ensure compliance for state certification and national accreditation
- Ability to ensure all federal, local, state, and/or program documentation is complete and accurate
- Ability to collaborate with university researchers that support the production of new knowledge in the field of early childhood care and education
- Ability to coordinate with researchers to implement studies both within and outside of the classroom in ways that support the children's psychological and physical needs
- Ability to act as an advocate for participating children
- Ability to follow all center and university policies on the implementation of research occurring at Texas A&M University Children's Centers
