Job Summary
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum emphasizing learning through play in accordance with Rhode Island standards. Maintain an inviting, stimulating environment while providing appropriate supervision and care for children. Oversee Teacher Assistants, Substitutes, Interns, and Volunteers, and collaborate with the Education Coordinator to develop monthly lesson plans. Plan and participate in scheduled parent conferences, submit daily notes, attendance, and developmental profiles, and foster positive relationships with families. Ensure all work adheres to health and safety protocols and report potential hazards to ensure the safety of children.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in early childhood education or related field
- Minimum 1 years' experience in a classroom setting
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and time-management skills
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to communicate and effectively interact with a diverse population
- Collaboration and teamwork
- Ability to meet all background checks and medical clearances required for the position
- Ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races
- Demonstrate knowledge of the history of discrimination in America, particularly as it relates to race and racism, and how this history has led to disparities experienced by marginalized communities such as BIPOC, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities, and others
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field
- Knowledge of Early Childhood development
- Experience in a childcare setting
