Early Childhood Specialist - State Support Team

Job Summary

Conduct early childhood education coaching and consultation for public and chartered nonpublic schools across a six-county region. Deliver high-quality professional learning and technical assistance focused on evidence-based instructional practices, universal design for learning, and academic or behavior supports. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to foster collegial relationships while managing parent, family, and community engagement. Complete required professional development and training, attend quarterly in-person and virtual meetings, and utilize data analysis to monitor improvement efforts and support decision-making. Requires a master's degree, three to five years of classroom teaching experience, and reliable transportation for travel.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following areas early childhood education, child development, family studies, or a related field with a focus, concentration, or licensure in early childhood education.
  • A master's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Three to five years of successful classroom teaching that includes reading/literacy instruction in the early childhood years.
  • Two years of experience providing support and/or services to those who work with preschool age children in one of the following capacities: administrator/supervisor, professional development provider, technical assistance provider, or teacher mentor.
  • A thorough understanding of Early childhood development.
  • A thorough understanding of Coaching and consultation skills.
  • A thorough understanding of Delivery of high-quality professional learning and technical assistance.
  • A thorough understanding of Early childhood education curriculum and assessment.
  • A thorough understanding of Evidence-based processes and instructional practices, including development and implementation of academic and behavior supports.
  • A thorough understanding of Universal design for learning and differentiated instruction.
  • A thorough understanding of Implementation and monitoring of improvement efforts.
  • A thorough understanding of Parent, family and community engagement.
  • Proficiency in Communication - Clear verbal and written communication with colleagues, parents, families and educators.
  • Proficiency in Collaboration & Teamwork - Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams/groups, share ideas, and support team goals.
  • Proficiency in Empathy & Emotional Intelligence - Understanding others' perspectives and responding appropriately, accepting of constructive criticism.
  • Proficiency in Conflict Resolution - Handling disagreements constructively and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Proficiency in Active Listening - Paying attention to details and showing respect for others' input.
  • Proficiency in Adaptability - Adjusting communication style depending on audience or situation.
  • Proficiency in Leadership & Influence - Inspiring and motivating others, even without formal authority.
  • Proficiency in Data Analysis & Interpretation - Collect and organize information, identify patterns, trends, draw meaningful conclusions, and communicate insights that supports decision-making.
  • Candidates must have reliable transportation.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel.
