Job Summary

Support students at teacher's direction through group instructional reinforcement and daily care routines. Assist with assessing age-appropriate skills across social-emotional, physical, language, literacy, mathematics, and cognitive development areas. Implement individualized behavior management programs and utilize conflict resolution techniques to help students solve problems. Maintain program accreditation requirements for health, safety, and sanitation while promoting a positive learning environment. Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, bus loading/unloading, and classroom activities. Prepare instructional materials, gather data for reports, and operate school equipment including Chromebooks and communication devices. Participate in ongoing training related to early childhood development.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education
  • Possess an associates degree
  • Complete a paraeducator certificate course
  • Complete and pass the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
  • Ability to work in multiple rooms, collaborating with numerous people
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule on a daily basis
  • Assists in assessing students on age-appropriate skills in multiple developmental areas, including social-emotional, physical, language, literacy, mathematics, and cognitive development
  • Assists teachers in maintaining program accreditation requirements related to health, safety, and sanitation
  • Assists teachers with daily care routines for all children
  • Assists teachers in promoting a positive learning environment
  • Supports and maintains individualized behavior management programs
  • Utilizes conflict resolution techniques to assist students in solving problems
  • Participates in and implements ongoing training and professional development related to early childhood development and education
  • Assists teachers with implementation of specific instructional requirements as indicated in the individual education plans for each student, as needed
  • Assists teachers in supervision of students including, but not limited to: arrival/dismissal, loading/unloading buses, classroom, playground, individualized settings
  • Assists with preparation of instructional materials as needed
  • Assists teachers with gathering data for reports and paperwork related functions as needed
  • Annually completes CPI: Verbal De-escalation Training
  • Operates school equipment such as Chromebooks, copier, communication devices, etc
