Job Summary
Develop daily schedules and lessons for preschool-aged children while instructing them in the High Scope Curriculum. Respond quickly to emergency situations and guide children in resolving conflicts by modeling problem-solving skills. Treat all children with equal respect and consideration, anticipating and redirecting behavior to eliminate potential problems. Lift a minimum of 40 lbs and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Candidates must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements or a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, along with CPR and First Aid certification.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement
- A bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching
- The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education
- Training in High Scope Curriculum
- Ability to work effectively with pre-school age children, parents, and co-workers
- Awareness of child development theory and practices
- Ability to develop appropriate curriculum
- Ability to treat children with kindness and respect
- Self-motivated, dependable and responsible
- Must be available and able to perform functions of the job
- Good attendance record
Desired Qualifications
- CPR, First Aide Certificate preferred
