Job Summary
Early Childhood Educator needed to co-teach in a therapeutic, trauma-informed, Christ-centered classroom within the Compass Kids Program at the Center for Women and Children. Responsibilities include co-teaching developmentally appropriate activities, using evidence-based curriculum and sensory tools, and providing a nurturing environment for infants to preschool-age children. Communicate effectively with children, parents, coworkers, and volunteers; ensure program alignment with Christ-centered, strengths-focused, and trauma-informed approaches; participate in staff meetings and follow policies across Wheeler Mission, Center for Women and Children, and Indiana Code. Requires CDA certification during employment, 1+ year experience with young children, high school diploma or equivalent, and ability to lift 10–30 pounds; 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with some travel for field trips. Located in Indianapolis, IN at Center for Women and Children.
Required Qualifications
- Must have 1+ years of experience working with young children
- Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent
- Must have or obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification during employment
- Experience working within a school or family recovery setting (preferred)
- Working knowledge of children who have been impacted by trauma, poverty and/or homelessness (preferred)
- Lift 10–30-pound child with safety precautions
- Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and play with young children for long periods
- Availability to work 40 hours per week: Monday through Friday, 7am-6pm
- Occasional travel may be required for field trips
- Background check, fingerprints, physical, and TB test required
- Drug and/or alcohol testing after conditional offer
- Must adhere to WM Drugs and Alcohol policy
- Evidence of Christ-Centered alignment and mission
- Adherence to Wheeler Mission policies and Core Values
