Job Summary
Develop, plan, and implement day-to-day operations of the childcare program based on Ministry of Education pedagogy and the "Tools for Life" framework. Create and maintain a safe, responsive learning environment while providing quality, play-based supervision for all children. Evaluate program needs against licensing requirements and actively support culturally diverse families, newcomers, and young parents. Work within a team to foster children's emotional, social, and cognitive growth. This full-time, unionized temporary role requires 40 hours per week at a rate of $19.79 per hour, with eligible top-ups ranging from $25.21 to $28.21. The contract runs from September 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
- registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and their families
- Experience working in a childcare program
- experience working with parents
- experience working with community partners
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e., Child Care and Early Years Act (2014)
- Experience working with culturally diverse families
- Experience working with newcomer families
- Experience working with LGBTQ2S+ families
- Experience working with young families
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate
- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training
- Unionized, Full-time, Temporary position availability
